Around Christmas a few years ago, walked into a store and they had all the supersoakers 1/2 price!!!! Bought enough for the whole family including adults.
Hubby had one to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeder. Squirrels got wise to him and stayed 2" out of range when he was outside. One squirrel was basking in the 90 degree heat in the sun on a limb 2’ above the neighbor’s garage just out of range. Hubby was frustrated. I took the super soaker from him, climbed out the attic window onto the roof, walked to 3’ from the edge, and shot the squirrel. Poor thing was so surprised he did a flip out of the tree onto the roof, chattering angrily at me. He stayed out of rooftop range after that, but never stopped raiding the bird feeder.
I have a birdbath in the front yard near the bird feeder. There’s a squirrel guard on the feeder pole the squirrels can’t get past, but they can jump up 3 feet to get a drink out of the birdbath. I see no reason to prevent them from doing that.

At least you are staying hydrated and hot having to get up to get more water.

Why regret? He’s hitting your glass, not you.

Sure, if water streams were collimated like a laser beam.

I’m surprised no one else wondered where he got the water. The sink might be a bit high :-)
