Sounds like the results would be similar to a certain carnival ride, once the car hits a couple of potholes, or crossing railroad tracks at speed…………..
The advantage of child car seats on the ceiling of the car would be easier clean up of spills. You don’t have to remove the car seat to clean a spill, and the car seat doesn’t get as cruddy. Add a cat litter box, the width and length of the back seat and it’s even easier to clean up.
When my kids were small I had a sedan with a fold down panel in the backseat that allowed access to the trunk. It was for longer items, like skis, but my kids liked to undo their car seats, open the hatch, and come out of the trunk. I think that worried some other adults, thinking my kids rode in the trunk.
I remember seat belts as an option. My dad got it on his 1956 Ford. They handed him the package with instructions how to put them in. He added extra steel plates to the floorboard as he worried the attachment would just pull through the floor. At 4 years old like Eddie I thought they were the coolest things.

Suspension from the ceiling is always anatomically better when mitigating road vibrations. Less spinal compression.

Right, that makes way more sense, but it’s also how some of the best ideas come about!
