That is unfair to poodles. They can’t help it if every other breed of dog finds them irresistible. I have known poodles who were delightful dogs and fun to play with.
I felt kind of the same way until I met a standard poodle. Now we have 3, plus a miniature. We do our own grooming, which, in Florida, mean keeping their coats short most of the year. When my granddaughter lived with us, we also had her staffy mix, and everyone got along great. Will, go meet a poodle somewhere and report back.
Unless it is a Standard Poodle. Those are pretty neat dogs. I agree though, anything with “toy” or “miniature” in name is not a dog but a fashion accessory.
In the 60’s, we had a teacup poodle and a standard poodle & when my mom took them to get groomed, the teacup had the lion’s main cut, the standard had a short trim all over, and both would come home with painted toenails and matching-color bows – but never did we dye the fur which was SO popular back then, just painted toenails! LOL! :)

Standard poodles are real dogs. The others might as well be cats.

To Undoodle A Poodle From Not Always Right :
(A woman brings in her dog to get groomed. The dog is a Goldendoodle, a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle.)
Me: “So, what would you like to do for her haircut today?”
Customer: “I don’t want her to look too much like a poodle.”
Me: “Well, your dog is half poodle, but I’ll see what we can do.”

We got our mini Aussie from a rescue service. He’s not a fashion accessory, he needed a home and is an awesome dog.

Fashion is what you buy. Style is what you do with it. I happen to be owned by a Norwegian Elkhound.
