When I leave my car at the airport I take a picture of the locator sign.

And malls?I thought they were all going out of business.

When going to the grocery store I always park next to one of those cart return corrals. I park close to the corral so as to leave plenty of room to get out of my car, allow for plenty of space between me and the car to my left, an easy trip to cart return when done shopping, and best of all a decent shot at finding my car.

I have a brightly colored clown atop my antenna but I rarely see it because giant SUVs or PUs are always parked next to me!

I just look around. As an F-250 Superduty with a six-inch lift and 38 inch tires, it is taller than all the rest.

The malls around me are so dead that if I did go to one my car is very easy to find.

In the days before key fobs when you had to use your key to unlock the door, I was shopping and when I came out of the store I walked over to “my” car but my key wouldn’t unlock it. Then I notice the car next to it was the same year, make, model and color.

This is why, when autopilot becomes more prevalent, I hope they have a car that will park itself, and come to me when I’m ready to go.

I get to the mall early and park near the entrance. Admittedly, it’s been a while though. There must be thousands of blue Fords in the lot.

I had an older friend who, back in the day before key fobs, did a lot of business trips and rented a lot of cars. He once arrived back to a full parking lot and couldn’t remember what kind of car he was driving. He had to call the rental agency to find out what he had rented.

I think that there’s a phone app that will remember the location of your vehicle in the parking lot. I don’t know what it is, though.

fortunately I’m not to the stage where I have difficulty remembering the color of my pickup. The key fob for my little truck helps me find where I parked it.

My Hyundai has blue link that tells me on my phone where it is, I don’t use it much for finding the car but it great for telling me were the wife is.

I once flew to Phoenix, got a rental car, picked up my son and went to a concert. While walking away from the car, I realized I had no idea what I was driving. Went back and wrote it down! I had a vision of waiting for everyone to leave so I could find the only one left.

@Ahuehuete- No, I don’t think the malls aren’t going anywhere. Yes. Online shopping has become the rage but #1, everyone still in this day and age isn’t computer savvy. And #2, people still like going out to the malls especially at Christmas time, because they enjoy all the chaos and hustle and bustle, and seeing and interacting with other people.

Malls can be fun to walk around, browse and even buy stuff but some of their parking lots are gigantic. Always start with the basics I say, but I would also either write the lot and number or just park in front of the first store I’m going in. However, today, I just go to Amazon. Saves time….

Murray and Irving are chatting in the living room of Irving‘s house while their spouses are kibitzing in the kitchen. Irv says to Murray, the wife and I had a wonderful dinner the other night. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was quite reasonably priced. Murray says oh that sounds great. What was the name of the restaurant? Irving says for the life of me I can’t remember, but I think the name was like one of those red flowers that has thorns. Murray says you mean a rose? Irv says that’s it! Then he yells into the kitchen to his wife, “Hey Rose, what was the name of the restaurant we had dinner at the other night?”

I have a “find my car” app on my iPhone. I sold my car and a friend took me to Costco. She dropped me off in front, came back, we went shopping and it took her a half hour to find her car. Even then, she wouldn’t download the app!

There are car-finding smartphone apps that can help. Only two problems: 1) you have to remember to set them when you park and leave your car and 2) they’re not always reliably accurate and can sometimes send you looking quite a way away from where the car actually is.
