Memories – This one time at band camp in a Puerto Rican community I grew up in after being raised in the synagogues of Delaware, I became a truck driving Catholic professor with beloved hairy legs that almost burned up in my house fire just before I rode 5000 miles via Amtrack to ground zero in NYC.

Conservatives of conscience and intelligence — yes, there are some, e.g., Kinzinger, Cheney, Romney — have been expelled from the Republican Party which has chosen Trump über alles. I’ve seen fanatics. No, thanks.

The problem is if you ask any of the Far-Right what they really want, they cannot give you an answer, since ALL they know is that they want to “Own the Libs”…

53 years ago, I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I spent 25 years in uniform wielding the sword to protect it from our foreign enemies.

Since then I am wielding the pen and the purse to fight the domestic enemy: the Republican Party.

I ended my oath with “So help me God.” To fail to fight this foe means peril to my soul.

Ironically, each elected Republican figure, put his or her hand on the Bible and swore a similar oath, including those who claim to be Christian.

They not only disavow their oath, but they fail their religious beliefs by using Jesus as a poster boy to further their political objectives. If I remember my Sunday School correctly, that’s taking the Lord’s name in vain. MAGA

I am a white, heterosexual, Christian, affluent male. I am everything that the Republican represents. I am the beneficiary of white privilege and male privilege So why am I not a Republican?

My ancestry is Slavic and not Anglo-Saxon, so I am not white enough.

I am not an Evangelical Nationalist Christian, so I am not Christian enough

I do not own a gun (I don’t have a problem with gun ownership, I just don’t need one)

    I passed high school history

    I passed high school mathematics

    I passed high school science

I don’t use social media as my primary news source.

I read the following books: “How to Lie With Statistics,” “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich,” “1984,” and “Animal Farm.”

    I read books, period.

I’ve read the Constitution. I swore an oath to protect and defend it.

I know or have known, Holocaust victims, undocumented aliens, Muslims, LGBTQ people, homeless people and drug addicts. They are all human beings to me.

    I can remember January 6th

I can remember what politicians say from one election to the next.

I drink wine instead of beer (somebody has to keep the stereotype going)

As demonstrated both here and in Europe, the reasons for the success of the far right is hitting the less educated and the elderly on fear of outsiders and change in general. We’re also slowly seeing a backlash against this thinking in at least some countries as the citizens recognize the harm far right policies do. My fear is in the U.S. we won’t react until the “Freedom Caucus” and their ilk have done irreparable damage – like Brexit did to Britain.

All efforts must be made to protect American voting rights. The GOP (what’s left of it; more Nazi-esque than anything else) will aggressively cheat to stay in power (and ruin America).

Trump is pushing the House Freedom Caucus for a shutdown. With 91 charges and 4 indictments, any chaos is good chaos for him.

You libs would be better served to get your own house in order.President Biden’s disapproval rating hit the highest mark of his presidency in a new poll also showing support by essential voting blocs is slipping.Biden’s disapproval rating ticked up to 56 percent with 41 percent saying they approve. The survey also shows support for Biden slipping with voters ages 18 to 24, who reported a 46 percent approval rating, Latinos who reported 43 percent and independents – who will be key to deciding the general election – at 36 percent.

Without a clear majority neither party can do too much. The MAGA’s don’t want to do anything for average Americans except make their lives harder.

I don’t see much future for the Americans … it is a decayed country. And they have their racial problem and the problem of social inequities … How can one expect a state like that to hold together? – Adolf Hitler – In conversation, 7 January 1942

The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny almost imperceptible reductions. In this way, the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed – Adolf Hitler, Mein Kamf.
