And the mocking of Elly and her obsession with getting a letter from Michael begins. First up is Elizabeth who not only gets in her digs at her mother, but does so while speaking very wisely and sensibly. You go, Elizabeth!

What happened with Elizabeth’s hair? I know it’s been shorter for a while but now it’s “poofy”… for lack of a better term.

Sometimes the truth hurts. Doesn’t make it less true.

It’s hard to let our sons go. Mine got taken by an evil witch, but she left him with two kids and I feel sorry, angry, and vindicated all at once.

I know it must be hard on parents, moms especially, but Elly is going to have to let go. Michael is grown now. Kids first leave home for college, later to get married. A mom has to accept that he will love another woman more than her and in a different way. It’s the natural order of things. Boys and men who continue catering to mom after they are married make the worst husbands. He’s supposed to leave his parents and cleave to his wife, putting her first. He should still honor his parents and help them as he can, but the wife and new family should come first.

It’s because Michael is still trying to get into Rhetta’s bloomers, that’s all.

Two points. Michael has a girlfriend and his mother doesn’t even know what the girlfriend’s name is?

And second, I think the girlfriend was just putting you on, trying to embellish her importance in Michael’s life. Michael had only written her a 4-page letter! — written on both sides of the pages.

The Greeks had 5 different words that mean love. One of the words is for “familial love.” Another means “romantic love.” They are both “love,” but they are very different.

Rhetta is working at the supermarket? She is supposed to be in college. Why isn’t she?

Mike grows up to be a professional writer, so let him get in some early practice.

Could part of it be that Elly’s parents do not still see her as their baby? They treat her like a grown woman, while it seems Elly wants her own children to stay infants forever.

And you, Cru-Elly, inspired very little love from Mike over the years.

Maybe Ellie should think back to her younger days, and what she would write or say to her own Mom… when she had a love interest in her life with boy!

Trust me Ellie, the stuff that Michael is writing to Rhetta you don’t want him writing to you.

He should writr more often and all the letters should start with send more money

Two issues could be of concern for Elly:

1.) Michael has the time and effort to write 8 pages to Rhetta. Does he have energy left over for his classes? 8 pages could also be a term paper.

2.) Michael is taking his mother for granted.

It’s a different kind of love.
