When I was a young lad my dear departed grandfather once told me, “The only two things in this world that you can be sure of is death and taxes! Everything else even that the sun will rise tomorrow – don’t bet on it!”
He has been right so far. Even about betting on the Sun. (I for the past 3 months have gotten a job at an Antarctica Research station and I can testify in court that the Sun hasn’t risen at all for the past 3 months!)
At this point it’s a propos to mention that science is about the best explanation and most precise predictions we can come up with based on what we know now. Engineers apply science. Sometimes bridges fall down.
