My first job was working in an amusement park and every evening they would shoot the guy out of the cannon. No matter how many times I saw it I was amazed. Thankfully, he never missed the net.
Usually rifled cannons can shoot much further than smoothbore ones. However, it appears that those flailing appendages destroyed any aerodynamic advantage Bung might have had, so he landed in the net anyway.

When a department store santa loses his job does he get the sack?
Do human cannonballs get fired?
Do pirates get told to sling their hook’s?
Do prostitutes get laid off?
Do trapeze artists get let go?

Did I ever tell you about that time I ran away to join the circus?
I tried out to be the human cannonball, but they couldn’t handle a man of my caliber.

Thanks to the rifles, it gets more accurate, ie without the exchange, you may have missed the net…
