There’s a dog food factory just outside downtown Denver. At least, I think it’s still there. The “I remember Denver” nostalgia FB groups have comment threads about people who remember the smell from their childhoods. We can be sentimental about pretty much anything. I won’t even mention the Gates Rubber plant.

It’s on the price tag: $70.00 a bag.

All big towns have a food rendering plant. The raw ingredients don’t travel well.

My brudders’ factory was bought by Milk Bones, to expand their premesis. The neighborhood there smells like Milk Bones. One brudder would eat Milk Bones with the dog when he was little.

Reminded of coloring a picture of a reindeer in a Santa Claus coloring book and wanted to label it. I was still preliterate, but new where I could find a captioned picture I could copy from. So I did – C-A-R-I-B-O-U.
