The eight more popular Democrats are (not to order): John Lewis, who is dead. Jimmy Carter, Bernie Sanders, the Clintons, Elizabeth Warren, all more than 70 years old. And Bill Clinton was elected twice, as was Barrack Obama. That leaves us with Kamala Harris who is the fifth most popular Democrat. So, Mr. Biden would be – at least in this poll – the second best chance.
A meaningful question could be: who are the most popular Democrats among those who would also be willing and able to serve as President? Especially from the POV of independents? Registered Democrats will vote for any candidate.
What difference does it make how popular he is, Ted?
Biden is, beyond a doubt, the most qualified man available for the presidency. A lifetime in the Senate. Eight years as an active Vice-President. Four good years as President. He doesn’t need to learn the job, he knows it better than any other.
We don’t need a “popular” president. We had one. His name is Trump.
We need a qualified president, one we can trust. We have one. His name is Biden.
And to be fair, Biden is a likeable guy. He has an aw, shucks everyman kind of charisma. He is able to say those corny, “Oliver Wendell Douglas” kind of things we need to hear. He tells us that we are good.
Trump is not a likeable guy. He’s an entitled, arrogant, ignorant prick. To some Trump is wildly popular in a way Biden, and most other living presidents, will never be. He was easily the worst president ever.
Ted is looking at it from the Republican perspective again. Unlike conservatives, it isn’t a popularity contest for Democrats. That’s why all the Ad-Hominem attacks and empty declarations from the right-wing has been so ineffective.
Come on man! Let’s give Joe another crack at it. So what if he’s been corrupted by his son, has dementia, falls down eight times a week, and needs adult diapers?
In the Q3 poll, Biden is 5, but Carter is 2 – likely because of the nice stories being written about his impending death. Obama is ineligible, but number 1. Bill Clinton, also ineligible, is also Ahead.
Popular among whom? That’s a rather critical point, since “popular among Republicans” is absolutely and utterly meaningless in an election where 95% or Republicans will vote R no matter what.
Much more important that “popular” is “will you vote for rather than a MAGA” and nobody asks that question. You just have to guess.
Moreover there’s “well known and popular” vs “known to a few but popular by name recognition”. DeSantis was the perfect exemplar of that, as the public got to know him, his “popular” rating went into the toilet.
Biden, on the other hand, has been CONSTANTLY attacked, if you look at the Way to Win report, it says the cons spent 135 million on ads just attacking Biden. How many ads have you seen promoting or defending Biden?
Still standing at #9 after all that is quite the accomplishment IMHO.
20 years of “This is the most important election of our lifetime”™ and instead of solving any problems, the Democrats always look for the best way to spin their ineptitude so that it sounds better.
Biden is a dreadful choice because he believes we’re in a cleft stick and he need not listen to us about anything. His current choices tell us that.
Me, I think that if we can’t put up someone genuinely on our side 100%, like Dennis, then we’d do better to let Trump (or whoever) win and afterwards use all the sky-is-falling-energy to do a proper coup or revolution. If we’re going to save something resembling the homeostasis under which we all, humans and non- alike, evolved then we have very little time in which to pull our collective fingers out.
Not only has this toon shown that Ted Rall has completely adopted the Moscow propaganda saying Biden is too old, it has also managed to rouse the concern trolls who say the same thing using different words.
An incumbent elected to the position has been denied re-nomination once: Franklin Pierce. He’s the list.
Unless something real arises that indicates Biden is not capable of being president, he will be the nominee. Of course, Trump set that bar so low it is nearly non-existent.

We need at least three good people to run for President; that way we have someone to vote for if something happens to Biden.

Not really sure where Mr. Rall is getting his assertion. Other sources still list President Biden as the top choice.

Jimmy Carter only served one term, so he’s eligible! At the ripe age of 99, he’s much more lucid than our current Cadaver in Chief.

The really disturbing part is that the names on the list are mostly a horror show of autocratic corporate warmongers.
