Looks like a nephew of Chesty Bond, the iconic cartoon character who advertised Bonds singlets from 1940.

It isn’t, that’s his twin brother Crayon Cid. Generations will argue over how to pronounce the second C.

About the comic strip stamps: Several artists did strips (on the same day, I think) where honoring newspaper comics with stamps was the subject. I thought this meant it had happened and went to the post office to ask for them, only to find out they did not exist. When they were issued (the following year?) I bought some, of course.

And when they were issued, Charles Schulz did a series of strips where Sally thought that since the USPS had drawn pictures of comics on stamps, she could just draw pictures of comics on the envelopes and they would go through the mail. No. Snoopy looked at them and thought “She drew Popeye better than they did.” This was Schulz being snarky because they didn’t use a drawing by Segar, Popeye’s creator.

    Just don’t call him Busty.

I’ve often wondered, because I’m kind of lame, whether ‘Nemesis’ has a verb form.

Why it’s young “Chesty” Pullit, great-grandson of Admiral “Chesty” Puller and grand-nephew of stripper Breasty Chesty Fuller!

This kid’s got an over-inflated ego and a head as big as a puffed-up pouf.

That banty rooster strut of his makes Cagney look like a cripple.

Someday, somebody’s gonna shove that C into his A

If I recall correctly, one of the characters in the Old Maid card deck I had as a kid was named Chesty. Given the variability of OM characters over time, I cannot verify this, but in a deck of the times not far from or of the WW II era, such a name is quite possible….

Since she hasn’t been mentioned yet (gosh I hope I looked at all the comments), I’m going to mention Chesty Morgan, a burlesque performer back when “burlesque” itself was an ironic name because the classic burlesque genre didn’t survive the 1950s. Chesty got some bemused notoriety by becoming a professional at interrupting big league ball games and one time stealing a kiss from George Brett.
