I struggle to think of the greens and blues as enemies. Not sure what their real relationship is, but they really like and respect each other.

I am so lucky. My dog Frankie and I were daily visitors to our neighborhood dog park. He had so many friends. Humans and dogs. He went to the big dog park in the sky in January and I got really depressed. A friend suggested going to the park and I reluctantly agreed. Best idea ever. I was greeted at the gate by all in the park and I felt overwhelmed by the love. Now I go every day, again, just to play and remember.

Why didn’t we ever see this little dog? Maybe it was from his childhood.

Yes he does, overtherainbow. He’s sensitive and caring without being syrupy. A favorite = February 13, 2022. Very Best Wishes.

When my neighbor retired she wanted to be a volunteer dog walker at the local shelter. On her first day, she was given Buckley, a black lab. On their walk, she noticed that every now and then he would turn his head and look right at her. Eye contact. Connection made. So she just kept walking until she walked him right to her house. It would be his forever home with her and her surprised but welcoming husband. Buckley is at the Bridge now. Probably playing with a Pug. (Yes, there was some notice given and paperwork involved with the shelter).

Don’t like pugs! They, and Boston terriers, are bat pigs!

It’s heartbreaking to lose a pet of any kind. Remember losing my two doggies a few years back. Also my roommate’s old dog passed away not too long ago, she lived to about 16 years old.

This made me sad. Even the loss of a fictional dog is heartbreaking.

Strength and good wishes to the green pirate—and hopefully just him, since I really want this one to be only fiction.

    Good Evening, Crew.

Mr. Dunham, you obviously struck a chord here. People tearing up (not me, of course, but, y’know, OTHERS) over a fictional dog they’ve never seen. Well done!

This strip is a few days old, but I’m just now seeing this, and I have to comment. I have long enjoyed Overboard, sort of miss some of the old characters. But I love the growth arc of the strip. It has always made me laugh, but in the early days the humor was often, even mostly, mean. I would laugh, but I would feel a little guilty laughing. In recent years, the strip has more and more leaned toward the sweet style of humor, and even at times no humor at all, just something that touches me emotionally. I applaud this. If I want to laugh at idiots being mean to each other, I can read the news about Congress. Reading this kind of strip truly lifts my spirits and provides a respite from the “humor” of the news. Chip, thank you for all the years of entertainment and insight, and especially thank you for the more recent “feel” of the strip.
