Well today when I go out walking about 0615, this morning it will be in the Civil Twilight. Yesterday, same time, was in the Nautical Twilight. I do love to start walking before the Dawning; the Aurora, who was the ancient Roman goddess of dawn.
I don’t think most people set an alarm for Sunday morning. They wake up naturally when they are done sleeping. No sleep is lost unless you set an alarm for an earlier time than usual.
I have one clock that’s supposed to set itself automatically by Naval time from WWV, but this year it hasn’t gotten a signal even when I put it against the window all day.
It doesn’t bother me all that much now days either. When I was working in an office, and it was dark at 5 pm, that was sad. And now, I kind of like the sun not coming up till 8-ish. Excuse to sleep late!
Right, Arlo. Hours are for using. The “take-off time” dictates coordinated hours, donut shop to funeral home, so everyone sets a timekeeping device to match their activity realm. I use my watch/fitness-tracker to let my beneficiary know I’m still ticking. Most places I go are open daylight hours most days. If they’re closed when I get there, I come back another day. Clock-time changes don’t make sense. If another sun-arc would be better, choose another number for that activity. Summer hours, Winter hours. Twice-a-day drive time makes lots of fuel sales for idling in traffic, just to get everyone there at the same time…wake me when it’s over.
I still don’t know why UTC is not the worldwide standard now. I have no problem at all waking up at 13:00 and going to bed at 05:00. At the very least, 12 hour time is utterly worn out its usefulness. If we are going to adjust our daytime hours, we can just change the time of day we are doing things.

Nice philosophy Arlo. Some would argue getting back what was taken away doesn’t put you ahead.

I used to hate the spring forward. I never did mind the fall back. Now that I’m retired, I don’t care either way.

They couldn’t just tell everyone to get up an hour earlier, they had to act like you were saving something.

Doesn’t matter to me. I get up when I wake up. No matter how many times.

It was dark when I got up yesterday, it’s dark now. Couple hours to sunrise, that’s way more coffee than I can drink.

It should be Standard Time all year

It’s funny how they can just change time by passing laws. The Pope threw out October 4-15 in 1582. Bet his birthday wasn’t in there.

The sad thing is that some people think there’s less sunlight. We can’t do that.

The worst part is resetting all the clocks. and there is always one you don’t find for a few weeks.

I already spent my hour. I stayed up late, then woke up an hour late. Somehow, I feel cheated.

Ben Franklin is one of my heroes, but I really wish that he hadn’t come up with the idea of clock shifting.
Oh, well. If he hadn’t, someone else would have, I guess.

I so enjoy the light in the morning to start the day! Sure wish the powers that be would leave it that way.

Not a morning person! I do regret seeing the early dark evening. And it makes winter more of a world winding down, what with the cold and darkness.

I have heard this attributed to Native American wisdom: you can’t cut the top off a blanket, sew it on the bottom, and get a longer blanket.
