I’m guessing Bentley drew this strip sometime before October 7th.

There is so much truth to this. Much of the law of Moses is centered around preferential treatment of foreigners because they had been foreigners in the land of Egypt who were horribly mistreated.

It seems strange for a country, like the USA, to be a nation of immigrants, and be concerned about immigrants. I guess it’s natural to protect what you have.

I’m going to assume that the immigrants mentioned in the verse were also not crossing the borders to the tune of multiple thousands per day, and were expected to be able to provide for themselves. I have no objection to immigration, as long as the immigrants are following the rules to get in, and stay in, the country. Even 60 years ago, there was a limit to how many were allowed in from any given country. Any time communities are being overwhelmed trying to provide services, it’s rather difficult to accept them as equals.

Deuteronomy 28:43 is a wonderful companion verse to this.
