Silly comic strip today. Gluten-free is a real concern; Cantú should have Rozco asking for something that isn’t , like Keto.

Sad that even a homeless person has to seem so persnickety but someone who is gluten intolerant has no choice. They’re not just being picky.

Agreed. I have no patience for gluten. And I won’t stand for it.

Is Rosco reading the paper, or sunning himself? The folded shape is more like a reflective surface.

Ugh. I liked it when food was much simpler.

A guy in a wheelchair, living next to a dumpster does NOT want to have to deal with gastro-intestinal issues.

I think that most people who worry about gluten needn’t, but if you have celiac disease, like my sister does, it is a big deal. I see the joke in the comic today, but maybe he has the disease. Not a laughing matter then.

I wish cartoonists would stop using gluten free as a punchline. No one makes fun of insulin. A gluten free diet is the only treatment available for people with celiac disease and NCGS. There is no cure. And no, everything is not ok in moderation. A crumb of regular bread can cause a reaction for someone with celiac disease.

Just because he’s homeless and disabled doesn’t mean he doesn’t have health issues. I happen to be gluten intolerant.

At the recent Halloween…..a kid asked if had a specific type a Candy. When I said “no” the kid was peeved. He then asked if I had full sized candy bars. Again I said “no”. The kid did take two bite sized candies but I could tell I could tell he was very dissatisfied…..

Usually I LOVE your work. Not today. Please go to a food pantry and observe. You will see that even though people are homeless or disables they make choices, they are human. They are just like you and me and the people you represent. Can’t believe you think that a guy in a wheel chair with out housing would magically become ungluten tolerant. Perhaps this guy when he gets sick can go to the dumpster by the hospital. Seriously – go observe people at a food pantry. They are HUMAN and deserve to be treated like you wish your characters to be treated and as we would treat our most honored pets.

Sometimes I buy an extra couple of biscuits at the drive-through because I know there will be beggars nearby. I have given homeless people blankets, a bag of dog food for the fellow’s friendly Rottweiler, even the almost new shirt off my back (literally) but I NEVER give them money. They will only use it to buy drugs and liquor and undermines the help offered through more structured relief efforts.
