My habit of reading the paper while eating out alone probably led to me being on GoComics today!

I once went into a seafood place in the valley alone and was asked if I wanted to sit at “the captain’s table”. I said sure. It was a table for six or eight (I forget) and one of the staff joined all of us single diners. It was pleasant.

I get this if he’s eating at Chuck E. Cheese (despite it being out of business) or some high falutin restaurant that wants to charge $70 for a steak. Those are both places no one patronizes except for social reasons. There are other places, though, which draw people for their food.

Did a birthday selfie on FB several years ago. I brought a small candle, placed and lit into a McDonalds muffin, coffee alongside, and tried to do my best Al Bundy constipated crying ‘I hate my life’ face, best take of several. Just goofing around.

Being a widower and spending many hours eating alone, I can relate to this. Turkey TV dinner for me!
