Years later, Alice’s mother would ask her when she got interested in drugs, only to be reminded of the stories mother read to Alice.

/// Alice, next to her Mom, snuggles close

on the couch, but the girl seems morose.

    Her Mom can’t understand,

    that she’s ”in Wonderland,”

    from a small lithium overdose.

Either that child is sick, or that’s the best book ever, because she looks anesthetized.

In the first book, Alice is unimpressed with her sister’s book, which has “no pictures or conversation.”

Alice’s mother mistakenly thought Edward Albee’s play “Tiny Alice” would be suitable reading material for a five-year-old. Years of psychological therapy would henceforth be necessary for the sensitive child. That failing, she eventually ran for Congress as Marjorie Taylor Greene. (—

Yes, dolly is dead. But we can’t flush her down the toilet like the goldfish and the turtles. We’ll have to get a shovel and put her in the backyard next to daddy.

The hours of posing for the portrait took their toll on poor Alice.

Little Abby knew something wasn’t right but didn’t dare stop her. Her mother, in a sleep deprived state, had mistakenly grabbed one of her “Mommy’s alone time” novels.

No honey, it says right here in Raising Children for Dummies, I only have to feed you twice a day. So, the two eggs at breakfast was all you needed.

Alice took candy from strangers on November 1, and shared with her dolly. Now dolly is dead, Alice is frozen stiff, and Mommy is desperately searching her child care books for an antidote.

There was a time when the people who lived within a child’s walking distance of their own house were not strangers.

    Alice in Wonderland

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:George Dunlop Leslie" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found and once there find the text string Alice, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3213 (October 31, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there pointing to the blog entry with my comment and reply pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 7 works by him have been used here (8 times total, including 1 repeat), the November 30, 2022, strip being the prior.

This cartoon embodys my objections to Halloween: Never take candy from strangers, kids, because they are all creeps who will kill you or worse! Except on Halloween when you can take all the candy you can get from them. But for God’s sake don’t take anything that isn’t wrapped because they poisoned it or put razor blades in it! So it’s fine to take candy from strangers on Halloween as long as you realize they all want to poison you. If the creeps try to give you a homemade popcorn ball or brownie or cupcake, throw it on the floor and run screaming into the night. Then we will send to police to get them!
