Jock looks pretty large in relation to Fred here, and certainly larger than he is shown in the later trips. After all, a Basset is quite a bit bigger than a Scottie, in fact I’m always surprised when I see a Basset Hound at how big they actually are (the short legs can be deceiving). Maybe it’s just the perspective, and Jock is closer to the viewer.
