Whenever I would stop in the middle of my reading and say “I can’t do it!” My grandma would simply say “Try again.” Once I tried again a couple of times, I’d wonder why I ever thought of giving up. Then at the next story in my reader it would seem as if life had turned against me, but my grandma would say “Try again.” until I never gave up anymore. Then, years later, when she was sick in bed, I read to her. I don’t know if she understood what I read at that point, but she knew somebody was there and it helped both of us.
