Getting ready for taxes is a nightmare this year. Cox forced us to migrate to Yahoo with our emails on March 18 and it has been a nightmare compounded by illness. Then just for fun, it got worse:
Last week at this time, I was waiting for EMSA to transport me to ER – we thought I had a broken ankle but it was a bad sprain and I have had to wear an air cast splint all week plus do a lot of rest and elevation of my ankle. I’m better but had to cancel today’s follow up doctor appt because of bad storms here most of the day! It will be tomorrow before I find out if I can remove the splint
I will be lucky if I can find all the emails I need for just preparing an income estimate so I can file an extension for taxes!
While I enjoy some of the deductions that I get, I do envy the countries where taxes are more straightforward and done on the government website. We shouldn’t have to pay for software or an accountant, just to pay the government even more money. ಠ_ಠ
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Monday! Don’t get fooled today! Have a great day, all!
Two people in their 70s, 5 retirements (with 2 pensions), 2 Social Security accounts, 2 investment accounts, and a recently inherited farm. At least 2 appointments with the accountant, and we get to watch her tear her hair out. Way too much fun!
Wish my taxes were simpler too but with a trust and two holding companies it is not. Mind I do let my accountant handle the other companies so I only have to worry about my personal taxes. But there is rental income (the house we own in my home town where I stay during a production there) and employee work at home expenses to track. The big one for me this year was adding up charitable donations which had the biggest effect on my tax payable – and yes, payable, no refund for me. Ah well, I am about done and it is not due until the end of the month. I imagine from what Purple People Eater says doing taxes in Iceland is much simpler then here in Canada and I believe we are much simpler than the USA.
I hope everyone enjoyed this fine Monday – especially if you had it off as part of the Easter weekend.
