Hibernation doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping, it just means a lowered metabolism.

Also, in order to hibernate properly Marigold would need to eat a LOT before winter came. Like, so much she can barely walk.

I might be able to help. What did she do differently from her normal bedtime routine?

Nothing? Well, there’s your problem.

C’mon Marigold. If you hibernate, you’ll miss Christmas, New years eve and Valentine’s Day.

Hibernation is for specialists. Bear and dormice for example.

This has got to be my favorite for quite some time.

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!. It actually tells us the exact day.

That seems quite new unless we are talking about Christmas or the like.

Normally we follow it as if it were every day in our world.

Marigold has grown cute and funny with her indignant marish whinnying and then now her genuinely touched whinny.

and yes unicorns are still called mares and stallions because it said once that the “stallions” would be scintillating over Marigold’s special unicorn parfume or whatever she was using.

While Marigold is not a horse, I’ve been around mares at least and I’ve heard many indignant whinnies in that time and I’m willing to bet that her indignant whinny is not too much different than theirs.

There are times I’ve felt like I could go into hibernation. It passes as the end of the year nears and I start getting out and doing things in the cold and snow.

I think Marigold actually said the words “Indignant Whinny” and “Genuinely Touched Whinny”. It seems like something she’d.. er, she would do.

Why bother, Marigold? It’s impossible for you to become more radiant than you are.

It would’ve been funny if a bear showed up to call Marigold’s bluff; of course, bears are not magic creatures. Then I started thinking, this strip could use some other magic creature who thinks its species is superior to unicorns, just like Marigold thinks unicorns are superior to everything else. It would be funny to watch them butt heads.

The only question is, which species?

We wouldn’t want a repeat of Rainbow and Tank, would we?

Bears don’t awaken rested and radiant. They awake angry, hungry and skinny from not having eaten for several months.

It’s not nice to know that Marigold could have hibernated without considering that Phoebe would miss her.
