Mr. and Ms Ephemera get a little tipsy, and right away in front of everybody they get the irresistible instinct to reproduce.

Reminds me of the Jimmy Buffet song. “Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw.”.

Hopefully 8:30 AM so it’s had time to age properly.

On one of my early dates with my wife, we went to a restaurant where they served a 300 year old brandy for some crazy amount of money. I started laughing when I saw it and my wife just looked at me. I replied:

Think about it. 300 hundred years ago, it was the early 1790’s. Probably some farmer made this, stuck it on a shelf, and forgot about it. Then a son or maybe a grandson found it, stuck it on a shelf and forgot about it. One day 250 years or so later, someone dug it up and sold it to a distributor who sold it to this restaurant in a town no one’s ever heard of so it could be served in some relatively unknown restaurant. Cleanliness standards and sealing technology was nothing like today, so who even knows what’s in it. And if it was made with the intention of storing it past the lifetime of the person that made it (and the person after that and the person after that), that’s even weirder. Who planned and payed for storing it that long? Are we making brandy today that won’t be opened until 2300? How do you make a profit on that?

My then girlfriend looked at me like I had two heads. I’m still trying to figure out why she married me, but I’m glad she did.
