You never realize how much you miss your smartphone until you don’t have one. My smartphone broke from a fall on Thanksgiving. I ordered a new phone on Friday morning, but it hasn’t even been shipped yet.
Early last week I made rough plans to meet up with a couple of out-of-town friends for coffee on Saturday afternoon. I had to notify them via email that I was without phone service. We had to choose the coffee shop and time by way of email. I arrived first, and when I didn’t see them, I reached into my now-empty pocket to grab my phone to check the time.
Due to the absence of my phone’s alarm, I had to resort to my old alarm clock to wake up.
No one has to carry a cell phone around and I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but very few people, extremely few people have a life important enough that they need to be available 24 7. Some few doctors maybe. None of the rest are that special if at all.

You know, I miss the days of NOT having to carry around a cell phone. It looked SOOO much better hanging off the wall.

I think of my flip phone as a pocket watch with features.
