I took a Tai Chi class a couple of months ago at my union for retirees and yes, it was a little difficult at first. Of course it was hard at first because you never did it before. But you have to stick with it! There are also plenty of books and videos about it naturally on YouTube. Make sure that you know exactly what style you are studying because there are two different styles of it.
I’ve been doing 24 Form Sun tai chi (or tai qi according to pinyin transliteration) and I invent my own prompts for some poses. For one pose, you spread your arms out and point your hands upward. I call this pose “Ta-DAAA!”
I do stair stepping – 2 story house with basement (plus outdoor steps to door) up and down, down and up. Often carrying a full laundry basket or other things while doing so. Last year I had a problem and my good leg (right one) was hurting on the stairs. I had to walk up and down holding on with one hand on the railing and the other on the wall – and husband had to carry the finished laundry up from the basement (both flights) for me. (Threw the laundry bags down the stairs to get it to the basement.) Husband had trouble carrying the basket up (twice each week) with the clean laundry in it and I felt bad for him as I did so with no effort, but he has trouble lifting anything of weight – thank goodness my leg was finally felt better.
I also do heavy lifting – everything else which needs to be carried is heavy – bags of groceries – especially cans, garbage out, etc so he does not have to lift things.

Hmm. That is one way of remembering moves. Smart thinking, now why don’t you join her.

So Tai Chi appears to exercise your body and your brain. Marvelous.
