Looks like the girls are just not into these two boys. With the right date they would not exclude them like that. Either way, the girls are being jerks by ignoring them. I bet the guys paid for everything and by doing that, the guys are their host and you never ignore the host. The guys should dump them.
Aren’t Luann and Diane a couple years apart in age at least? Would they really have friends in common? I know it’s possible but I’ve noticed the strip sometimes plays fast and lose with the relative ages of friends of Brad in relation to his younger sister. I seem to remember TJ wound up in the same class as Tiffany at one point even though he and Brad are presumably the same age (and no I don’t think TJ was held back).
A big cause of this seems to be the seating arrangement. It should be Diane riding in the front passenger seat next to Brad, and Luann and Gunther in the back. This boy-boy, girl-girl seating is not conducive to dating at all.
