Of course, Luann could have recopied her homework after she got home from babysitting. She would have gone short on sleep but would have handed her paper in on time. But she doesn’t think like that.
It’s so frustrating when you are being 100% truthful, but no one believes you. Had this happen once when my son slipped on some water as he ran into the tub… did the splits and broke his back femur (a spiral fracture). No matter what we said or did or how many times we told the medical professionals, they WOULD NOT believe we didn’t abuse our son. They took their sweet time treating him, drugged him up to keep him comfortable as they had a continuous stream of people coming in asking us to explain what happened over and over again. They did a full body scan and X-ray on him to see if there were previous injuries (there were none)… it was horrible. It wasn’t until our pediatrician came in and defended us and demanded they release our son that we finally got to go home!!! Awful experience.
Luann could wait a day or so and bring in the evidence. Of course she’d probably have to take time off from school and other activities to follow Puddles around.
“It’s in there somewhere, Ms. Phelps. Either apologize for calling me a liar or dig through it to prove it didn’t happen by its absence.”

I read that the average thirteen-year-old kid’s allowance in the US is $15.00.
I think mine was $3.00

Pro tip. There will be mangled bits that the dog didn’t eat. Take them in as evidence. If nothing else, you may at least get kudos for creativity…

It’s moments like this I really hate Phelps. She does have a point in that lying gets you nowhere, but she could’ve worded it better.

Inform Miss Phelps that that’s libel and slander and then get a lawyer and sue her.

Luann isn’t a known liar. I would think they would give her the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention that NO ONE would ever use that excuse!!!
