Not to put fine a point on it, but aren’t WE part of Natural Selection?

Doesn’t China “own” nearly every giant panda? I just read (on Wikipedia, so…) that every panda in a zoo is a leased animal at a rate of $1,000,000 a year. This was true when this comic first ran. So why were we collecting money to preserve them? Who did this money go to?

Almost every species in the fossil record went extinct prior to man’s entry into the biosphere. Give it a rest.
