Sad but true. Consumer spending drives the economy. Too much consumer spending causes inflation. You just can’t win.
In 1969, Star Trek was canceled in part because its younger demographic had no purchasing power of interest to the usual advertisers.
Our economy would do a lot better if less of it ended up in Dick and Jane’s pockets.

Dick and Jane still drive the economy. Rich people have little or nothing to do with it — but that’s not what Republicans say whenever it’s time for more tax cuts for rich people.
