The world’s covered with water, which is warming. A lot of species will die. what don’t will become part plastic from ingestion. Good times ahead.

Very few humans have an intuitive grasp of mathematics and even fewer (I believe) grasp statistics intuitively. But a great proportion of us can at least learn enough logic to recognize when illogic is being used on us.

Climate change deniers in places that actually have had some snow are saying "Since it’s snowed where I live, the climate must be normal on all 197 million square miles of the Earth’s surface.

It’s true. Heavy snows that built glaciers trapped air with low CO2 levels when they were compressed to ice by subsequent heavy snows. Some have presumed that this weather event indicates a global cooling, ignoring that it requires global warming to move the water to make the snows, which are local weather, not global climate.

What confuses me is that the temperature rise in the last 100 years is one degree. Just how does that get extrapolated into a crisis?

The saddest part of the climate debate, is that most people believe that switching to clean alternatives would be costly and job killing. In fact, the exact opposite is true. High oil tax plus instant rebates for all citizens would create the greatest economic boom in world history without hurting consumers in the least. Even if climate wasn’t a problem, it would be foolish to not do it as quickly as possible.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer says stupid people are the most dangerous. MAGA-T stupidity is a danger to our health, country and world and they all vote Repuglicans. Vote for every Democrat in every election every year, local, state and federal till we end their pestilence and consign them to the dustbin of history.

What an odd thought coming from Mr Miller. And not to get into the Weather vs Climate Change kerfuffle but the December and Christmas weather around here is not the least bit conducive to building Snow Goons. Alas… :.(

I remember Trump stating that a cold snap in the Northeastern United States was proof that global warming was a farce. He picked a particularly bad day. The other 94% of the planet was experiencing warmer than normal temperatures for that day.

…those that live in N.E. Ohio know the difference…

…back when winter just a few degrees colder…

    …Lake Erie froze…

…and lake effect affected less people less often…

    …there are still cold spells…

…I’m taking to you Christmas time 2022…

    …but the few degrees difference…

    …kept the lakes from freezing…

…stretching out lake effect both in time and area…

    …yeah…

…going from seldom getting 12" of snow to getting 3-4 times a year…

    …that’s climate change…

The sad part is most of my family repeats what the snowman says. Not one of them is a climatologist. Few of them even have college degrees. Yet, they’re all experts. How does THAT work? (They’re also virologists & epidemiologists [“Covid is a hoax”], legal experts [“tRump is innocent, despite 91 indictments”], and of course, political analysts [“The election was rigged, thousands of dead people voted, blah, blah”]. I swear, As America goosesteps toward fascism, let’s remember all these morons when we vote.

It’s been a thankfully mild winter here in Manitoba. My refrain is “I love global warming!” Heating bills, driving conditions, being better able to go for a walk….

Climate change is a weasel word way of predicted change come-what-may.

It is true, scientists do not agree on climate change. Therefore the right seizes on this fact to claim that it doesn’t exist. The disagreement is not about whether it is happening, it’s on how badly and rapidly it is happening.

The difference between weather and climate? Here’s the deal:

     • Weather is short-term; climate is long-term.

     • Weather is individual measurements; climate is average measurements.

     • Weather is what you get; climate is what you expect.

     • Weather is umbrellas; climate is ice ages.

     • Weather is the city council; climate is the United Nations.

     • Weather is 3 minutes on TV; climate is doctoral dissertations.

     • Weather comes and goes; climate just keeps on coming.

     • Weather change kills off individual plants and animals; climate change kills off entire species.

     • Weather is Angry Birds; climate is The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

Any American adult who doesn’t understand this by now must be:

    1) a social promotion from a special-ed class.

    2) working for a fossil-fuel company and whose salary depends on the public not wising up during her or his lifetime.

    3) deliberately disingenuous.

    4) a religious fanatic who buys into the 2000-year-old lie that their favorite dead guy is due back tomoro, having disappointed a hundred previous generations of True Believers because he’s been waiting especially for YOU to be around when it happens, because that’s how important YOU are!

These categories are not mutually exclusive.

I think you can believe what you want to believe, so long as you don’t actively use your opinion to divide the country, as one of our prime Ministers did – he called Climate Change ‘crap’. He then went about dismantling all the infrastructure set up by the previous government, at some expense and with a great deal of scientific backing, which had been meant to ameliorate our part of climate change.

It’s really rather Simple: All summer long, water evaporates from the Equator, the hot air rises and, not being able to go back Down, flows North until it reaches the Pole. Their, it cools, sinks and begins flowing South from the pole, while all that Water Vapor from the equatorial oceans condenses into Freezing Snow which is unleashed on the country in the form of really nasty Blizzards.

Come Spring all that Snow will Melt, causing Floods before running off into the oceans where it starts it’s journey yeet again.

It’s the Cycle of Life, er uh, Weather.
