Sirius, pandas don’t get in cold water, polar bears do though. But it’s a safe bet that people who jump in cold water start choking when certain delicate parts immediately migrate right into their chest.
I did that a few times, especially when I was younger.
When I was in the army, I was going to be an usher at a friend’s wedding.
His fiancée was Finnish, and they had some kind of custom/tradition thing where the groom’s men go into a sweat house for an hour or so.
While we were in the sweat house, other folks went out on a pier into a lake and broke up the ice to form a hole.
Then, after the hour, we left the sweat house, rolled in a snow bank and then jumped into the hole in the ice.
The most exhilarating thing I have ever done, and when I got out of the lake after a few minutes, and dried off, I felt more alive than ever before or since.

I remember doing that. I was even sober. Milwaukee is cold in January.
Blue backsides are more of the province of mandrills than polar bears.

I thought about taking the plunge. Or I could stay home and read a book by a cozy fire. Guess which one I picked.

I love how Shawn is smiling in the last panel. Sirius’ joke makes him so pround.

Toronto had a Polar Bear Skate under the “Bentway”, which is not on Lake Ontario. Everyone wore bikinis or shorts.
