Hard to believe that method of counterfeiting actually worked at one time. I remember reading about a crew that only made dollar bills. They then would use them to empty every change maker machine in town. Laundromats were a preferred target. Thieves gotta stay on top of the technology.
A good friend of mine did 5 yrs. (on a 7 yr. sentence) for counterfeiting $100 dollar bills. They were excellent and it took the Feds a long time to catch him. The funny thing was, after doing five years, his Dad asked if he had any more of those bills….he wanted one to show his friends. Then his "idiot’’ Dad passed that bill in a poker game. Of course the Feds discovered it and knew it was his bill and back to the penitentiary he went for the two remaining years. My friend is quite the character, and to hear him tell the story is hilarious.

No problem. It wasn’t a real Mercedes. It was a copy. A French counterfeit called a Merde-Cedes.
