For our kitties, every day is Boxing Day!
A friend wrote a sad SF about boxing day in which, on Boxing Day, the family, which couldn’t afford everyone all year put the less necessary members back into the freezer boxes until it was time to unbox them for next Christmas.
You know you’re old when you remember when these toys hit the market.
We were able to make them last longer than that. But then again, we were bored with them by Christmas noon.
Frazz invented an fun story but the kid was wise to him.
If there’s anyone who missed out on Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots:

I had this toy and it remains among of my favorite childhood memories. So much fun.
Going to have to Google Boxing Day
I posted a photo of Evander Holyfield on FB & it got a lot of likes.
Mine lasted for years.
Knock your block off!
I thought it was because we are out shopping, punching in PIN numbers.
In Britain and a bunch of former colonies thereof,
December 26 is still a holiday they love.
To them, it’s not St. Stephen’s Day but Boxing Day. Now why?
The origin’s uncertain, but explainers all apply
The theme of giving boxes full of presents to the poor.
Perhaps elites weren’t willing to oblige the day before,
Since causing serfs to wait would reinforce the class divide.
If that’s the case, it’s not about the alms so much as pride.
Regardless, people nowadays more often use the day
For shopping for each other or themselves, to my dismay.
It’s sim’lar to America’s Black Friday, only smaller:
When Christmas Day is over, you’re less apt to spend your dollars.
In many nations, Boxing Day’s a major time for sports,
Including, yes, its namesake. A coincidence of sorts?
At any rate, I hardly feel I’m missing very much.
The Christmas season’s big enough; it doesn’t need that touch.
She couldn’t tell Frazz was pulling her leg?
Yes, the robots are rotting in a closet somewhere, but the game is broke. Also have an 8-track tape player, and a VCR.
