Teflon. Think it has something to do with the preparation of the metal you coat it with, like making lots of pock marks in the surface? Glue doesn’t cure unless you expose it to air I would think. Have him leave the cap off for a while and see what happens.
As I have mentioned before, Mr Canehard’s name reminds me of a headmaster in the “Faceache At Belmonte School” strip in a UK comic called Buster. The headmaster’s name was Mr Thrashbottom.

When I was in Foster Care one of the former residents went off to be a waitress. Each night she would come home and put her Tips in a jar. After a year of putting her Tips in Sparklets Water Jugs (5 gal jars) they counted up how much she had. To her delight she found she had enough to pay for everything for her up coming wedding! Her dress, flowers, her bride’s maid’s dresses, catering, and even the honeymoon!
But… that was about 45 years ago. Today… I think if a waitress did the same thing… she might be able to buy a single flower.
