While it’s good/best to tell the truth, this is not a court of law.

You don’t have to tell the whole truth.

That simply means, when it came to the quality of your schooling, there was no competition.

If one is preparing to write a text and does a lot of reading and study in preparation, isn’t it possible that one might recall a single passage without recalling the source? Is that plagiarism? I think not.

However, if one recalls ‘several’ such, then it begs the question as to intent.

Decades ago I attempted a novel and I when I reached a stopping point, I reread the ms. What I found was a very familiar pattern of language used throughout. Not specific quotes from favorite writers, but close. I attributed it to the fact that for the preceding 50 years I had read about every novel of that kind I could find and had naturally acquired the writing style that prevailed in most of them. Was that plagiarism or just a kind of flattery?

Commenters on this site regularly offer quotes or sayings. Some mention the source, others do not. Is that plagiarism?

In short, has nitpicking become the new method of attacking someone of an opposing opinion? Or is that politics in education?

Parents who home school their kids form groups. Kids from different families are schooled together, with different parents teaching different subjects. The groups can be networked with other groups. This allows the home schooled kids opportunity to be involved with extracurricular activities, such as band, athletics, clubs, and so on. So, it is possible a home schooled kid could be elected valedictorian or other role for graduation ceremonies.
