Here in Ohio I look forward to snow. I haven’t seen any significant snow in over two years – in fact, I can’t remember a deep snow. I have pictures on my phone of a decent snowfall, but that’s been at least 10-12 years ago.
Winter is my favorite season, dreamily curled up in an oak tree, in a pile of shells and pine quills. Occasionally I come down the tree to the trash can for a snack, as long as the hawk is away.
I remember a 40’ snow drift across the road by our farm – dad told us not to make a snow cave in the drift as the county used snowmobile like ambulances and it would crash through the roof – also, when they cleared the road, they used bulldozers to clear the drift and it would not be good if we were playing inside it.
In the spring of 1963, we got a snow that drifted as high as the roof on our garage. The school bus didn’t pick us up of course, so my older brother, sister and I got bundled up and went outside to play in the snow. The three of us were walking on a drift when I fell into our trash barrel. They had to lay down on the snow to reach down and pull me out.

A few of us built a big one in college out of a big plowed pile of snow. We even had benches and a table made of snow.

I like deep snow, especially when I don’t have to shovel it or be out in it.
