It’s even better to make the resolutions on New Year’s Eve. After a few champagnes, you will forget what they are.

I think the original new years resolutions were mostly of in the form of a decision to not get THAT plastered again… at least not soon. Because hangovers.

And she is right, for the wrong reasons, since this kid would ignore her resolutions.

A perfect system with a perfect loophole (or a perfect excuse).

New Year’s resolutions… practice for procrastinators. (My birds of a feather.)

We hope each of you has a wonderful New Year and pray that you will find peace and friendship wherever and whoever you are.

And, as this is my 88th new year, my sweet blue-eyed girl’s 83rd and our 61st anniversary, I will add this that we have learned.

One sure pattern for life is to hold tight to your families and loved ones, your deepest beliefs, and your sense of what is right.

Hold tight to your self-respect, your respect for others, and your love of your country

Hold tight to the truth that, while no one is your better, no one is less.

Hold tight – as bad as your pain is, others suffer more.

Know it is up to you – always was and always will be.

    Hold Tight

Getting things done today seems to always be a flawed system.

My greatest sense of urgency arrives about half an hour after taking the furosemide.

It’s all fiction, really. The first day of a man-made calendar is no more important than any other for setting goals or making changes. But people do love to delude themselves.

January 2 is a holiday, too…the Feast of St. Sylvester.

And then January 3 is the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.

Then there are, in order, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s feast day, Twelfth Night, and Epiphany.

By that time, especially after Twelfth Night, you should have forgotten all your resolutions.

I resolve to not kill any more stupid people every year, and since I haven’t killed anyone since the idiot on the bomb range in the mid-’70s I have managed to keep that resolution every year. Just know that it is getting harder and harder to keep these last 5 years.
