One apple tastes like the next one? Frazz is in Michigan the #2 or 3 apple producing state. Like Washington State, and western NY, they have a zillion type of apples. Some for eating, some for cooking, others for, well, I’m not sure why some are still being grown.
There are so many different varieties of apples, grapes, citrus and they all taste different and have different characteristics. And also yes, where they are grown makes a huge difference.
For example; I was working produce back when Gala apples were first introduced to the U.S. from New Zealand, they were so good and crisp. Now those sold here are grown in WA state but the soil and climate are different and so are the Gala apples. I miss the New Zealand ones.
Eh, don’t get me started on mandarins ad tangerines, different lemons and limes….. heh heh heh!!!
Hey, look, check out Panel 7. We’re only 4 days into February and we’ve already got this month’s installment of a kid with a mouth shaped like something other than an oval. Only 10 more left to go this year.
The Victorinox mini Swiss Army Knife has a specific blade for peeling oranges. It makes easy ones a breeze and difficult ones much easier. Of course, today’s school administrators would fill their knickers if you bought a knife with a one and a quarter inch blade to school. Peel the orange at home, put it in a snack bag, and then take it to school.
Today was the last day of “eat a rainbow” week in school here. Kids are encouraged to eat at least one roy g biv color every day. Lots of yummy fruits and veggies!
Whoever tried to eat a lemon that had stayed on the tree long enough to ripe in plenty of sunshine on a well watered tree will remember that sweet(!) taste for a long time.

A clementine is a type of orange. How can she mistake a lemon for one?

I’ve had good luck with clementines, for the most part. They all peel easy and taste about the same.

Not only do different types of apples and grapes taste different from one another, the stage of ripeness changes the taste.

Q: What do you have if you have 10 apples in one hand and 12 oranges in the other hand?
A: Really big hands.
