I once applied for a tech writing job. The interviewer asked If I also wrote fiction. “Sure,” I replied. “Didn’t you read my résumé?”

From Not Always Right: Sounds Like They Have A LOT Of “Stuff” To Work On

Client: “Remind me to work on this stuff tomorrow.”

    Tomorrow comes…

Me: “Hey, here’s your reminder. Let’s work on the stuff you mentioned yesterday.”

Client: “Who are you to tell me what to do?”

Me: “You told me to remind you.”

Client: “Don’t tell me my business.”

I remember watching a Youtube video recently where the person telling the story sat in on a job interview and in overlooking the resume he realized the interviewee claimed to work on job that he’d done and when he rechecked the person’s name he realized that she’d worked at the same place he worked at, but never worked on the job that she claimed on her resume. It goes without saying that she didn’t get the job she was applying for.

Another comic today had a resume writer telling his client “Don’t get lost in the details. If you list being valedictorian, don’t mention that you were home-schooled.”
