She gets to go out without him? She is soooo lucky!
Husband quit his job about 15- 20 years ago due to burnout. Agreement was that I would go along doing what I did normally (including work which I do from home with some trips out to clients back then) and he would do what he wants. (He has done work from home on his own since the on and off and we have a handcrafted business together.)
When the gas prices went crazy a few years later he pointed out that it made no sense for each of us to drive to the same shopping center – for food shopping/to Home Depot – so we started going together. Now we are together 24/7 – furthest apart is him upstairs and me downstairs on computers and I go to an embroidery club meeting once a month – was still going to a client once a month until Covid started – now do her work by mail.

As long as you take the hint and do it. Since it’s your mess.

Smart thinking Ben. Hustle, clean, and recline before she gets home so that she will think you have not been a slob while she was gone.

My husband does this. He starts his activities for the day when I am on my way home from work.
