The consistency of the food at McD has even led to a statistical/economical concept: the Big Mac index. A McDonald’s Big Mac was chosen because of the prevalence of the fast food chain worldwide, and because the sandwich remains largely the same across all :// en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/Big_Mac_Index
I understand the logic, hbut have never had a problem with the local food anywhere I have been. And it is ALWAYS better than a McD; except in France (ironically) a few times.
I remember a NYC airport with a fancy sounding take-away food vendor. I tried it, had to wait an hour, and the food was inauthentic and almost inedible.
But I have a different moral than in the comic: use Yelp or equivalent BEFORE picking an airport eating establishment. I’ve never gone wrong since, and have had plenty of local airport food :)
And yes, I did post a review of my experience on Yelp. It has gotten several positive reactions (from being helpful to “I wish I read this beforehand – I had the same experience!”).
The only time I have ever gotten food poisoning in the 30+ countries I have visited in my life was when I ate at a McDonald’s in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
To me, it depends on why you’re traveling. If it’s something like a business trip, then yeah, you want to keep things as “regular” as possible. But if you travel to France to “take in the culture” and all you do is go to McDonald’s and Starbucks, then you’re kind of an idiot.
Once upon a time I heard an around-the-world cruise ship passenger smugly brag that he never got sick the whole time because he ate only was what was served on board the ship. Where did he think all of that fresh food came from on his weeks-long voyage?
I agree — at least when I’m traveling, it’s just easier to find a burger place (McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, etc.) and faster. Once I arrive at my night’s destination, I’ll eat local, though.

Fast food redefined: the stopwatch starts when the food goes into the mouth.

Eating McBunghole’s non-food makes me sick from the first bite (ergo, I eat it not).

… can’t afford to get sick …
At one time, a many-year stretch, McDonalds fries (or the oil they used) made me sick. Every time.

This is really dumb, and yet, I can’t argue it.

Haven’t eaten in McD’s (or BK) for years. I used to like the McD fish sandwich.

Guess Scott is still traveling and eating Mickey Dee’s. No new cartoon yet?

Are we finished here, Scott? Bad stuff happens when you leave Seattle.
