My dog loved the rawhide chews, the flat ones that came in a red box. He chewed them his whole life without any problems. All our other dogs over the years had chew bones or Nylabones. Again, never had a problem. I did hear that the problems seem to come with dogs swallowing large pieces of the bones and having them swell up in the stomach or intestines. Maybe we were just lucky.
Rugby’s jaw was so strong that he would crack a cow femur bone that we gave. I thought the marrow would be good for him. Again, I thought wrong. Off to the Vet! Poor Rugby, in lots on pain with a bunch of bone fragments in his belly. Darn owners never learn, ha!
I don’t think Rover knows what a squirrel tastes like! They are always too fast for him. Besides, if he caught one, I’d remember cause I would protest loudly!

Next time become a doc instead of a dog and find out by checking the X-rays of a rabbi…

A friend’s Chow Chow fancies himself an intrepid lizard hunter. Never seen a squirrel that caught his attention.

I have a mammoth-flavored bone. It’s pretty old and probably a bit stale by now

Beef or chicken. That’s about it.
