And today we have federal workers going out on strike to protest Israel and supporting the Hamas terrorists. Dopey Biden will probably change policy to make them happy.
I miss the good old days where the best person available was hired for the job. When you use boxes to check off you get the current WH spokesperson, the luggage thief, you know, losers.
Problems begin when people hired because they are handicapped and are placed where their handicaps work best for the company don’t get certain promotions because of their handicaps. See the Catch 22? Or, the Law of Unintended Consequences?
“They say” that people with severe mental problems [bipolar, et cet.] won’t be hired as air traffic controllers. But diversity means they will hire someone just for the color of their skin, and/or “trans” and other “checkmarks” and NOT the ones with the highest scores. [I’ll bet they will still discriminate against Asians, that have the highest scores, and ARE a minority in the USA.]
When I first saw this, I thought it was a headline from the Onion. If it’s legit, exactly what positions are those individuals going to hold that won’t endanger the lives of passengers?
From Snopes: The cited FAA text is real, but the implication that the policy is new, or that it stems from efforts that began under U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and President Biden, was demonstrably false. It has been included on the FAA’s website since at least as early as February 2013. It was present during the entirety of the Trump administration, and it remains present at the time of this reporting.
This is actually a very good idea. There are safety-related jobs that can be done and done very well by people with, for instance, Down’s Syndrome or autism, even if there is substantial intellectual impairment. You obviously need to choose the right candidate for the job, but a lot of people with these sorts of impairments are very focused and detail oriented. They just need to be trained to know the specific details you need them to be focused on. They may need a little more managing, but once you get them trained, you have an employee who will flatly refuse to take shortcuts because to their mind, that’s unthinkable. In an assembly or inspection position, that kind of reliability can be really useful. Build your processes right, do adequate training, and you can get some really valuable employees who have even severe intellectual disabilities.

Kelley is MAGA. Like Trump, his arms likely don’t swing as he walks, indicative of restricted critical thinking ability, among other things.

If you want a view to the future, google John Hopkins DEI officer. Oh sure, she apologizes now, only because she was “outed”.

Polling shows that registered Republicans are also keen to hire the disabled, and provide free housing at 1600 PA Ave.

Hiring someone because you feel sorry for them is never a good idea.

This policy has been on the FAA website since the Trump administration. Guess it must have slipped in under the radar. so to speak.
