Back in the 1970s my cousins and their 4 kids (all of whom were experienced cyclists), along with others in their cycling club, rode down the coast from Vancouver, B.C. to Newport, Oregon. The were accompanied by a couple of “sag wagons”—automobiles driven in shifts to help out anyone who needed a break. The kids especially all had great fun and, from the excited way they described their adventures to me, I’m sure it stands out as a highlight of their childhood.
