Is he remembering a time when people stuck with their New Year’s resolutions? Because there was never such a time.

I have a book collecting jokes from Readers Digest from before WWII. There’s a section on jokes about people not following through with their New Year’s resolutions to lose weight.

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions any more.

I resolved not to resolve. So far, so good.

I joined a gym and haven’t improved a whit. If it doesn’t change soon, I’m going down there in person to find out why.

That’s why I lift free weights in the basement.

At such a cold period, steam doesn’t last very long.

Start going to the gym in January. Quit going to the gym in February

It’s funny watching all the “new gym rats” every year. They typically last about a month, but this year we had a giant ice storm and they haven’t been back since week 2.

I recall Valentine’s Day being when they came back after January 10. Then Easter, before summer, and again before the later holidays in the year.
