As we get older we do get more concerned with our health and we do tend to have more problems. But that doesn’t mean that we have to use it as the primary topic of conversation. Possibly one of the reasons we focus on it so much is we don’t do much else. Possibly we would have more conversations and visits with younger relatives if we had other things to talk about. Possibly we would even feel better, be healthier if we got involved in something else — try something we’ve never done before, get back into an old hobby, join a book/garden/craft club, bake treats for a school fund raiser, volunteer at the library, etc.
While I was a parent, working full time, and getting a masters, I started a “But” list, which consisted of things I would like to try, “but” I had to take the kids to soccer practice/travel for my job/host a birthday party/take care of a parent, etc. When I retired, I started working on that list.
At 60, I started pottery and today I make figures/bowls/vases that I sell for charity. At 70, I took up scuba with my 10-year old grandchild and this year we got our Advanced Open Water certification. I’ve also taken a number of online classes in various subjects I was curious about. I’m still working on my list of Buts, but I’m so busy that it is slow going. My hope is that when my kids and grandkids remember me, they remember these things and not just my aches and pains.
The plugger in the panel isn’t contributing to an overall joke or even giving us any new information over and above what’s in the caption. Feel like the dog-man should either be saying something jokey like “I want you to have my Lawrence Welk albums if I don’t make it” or just going all out with “They’re going to gut me like a fish, Bob! No, I’m not going to calm down!”
Sometimes I use it to receive calls like “come pick me up,” and “can you take me over to Jayden’s house?” I guess that’s more of an early plugger’s phone use, not a senior plugger lol.

My text conversations take a lot longer than a call, and aren’t always as clear.

I never get calls from medics, just emails and texts. But to renew a prescription, I have to call the clinic.

You could have substituted “procedures” for one of the operations…
