The rumpled trench coat ala Humphrey Bogart I disagree with. In the ’80s there was a popular detective show on TV: COLUMBO in which Peter Falk represented a disheveled detective who always wore a rumpled trenchcoat. You may even catch the show on the internet today. It is my contention that COLUMBO is inferred.
