I guess that plate wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be… Must have been a British plate because the cats are having a smashing time… Oops, I cracked another joke…
There is a certain release of endorphins that comes with deliberately breaking something made of glass I will say. LOL Though I still wouldn’t recommend doing it. Certainly not anything of value.
Who else has cats that like to experiment with the law of gravity by pushing things to their balance point at the edge of tables? “How far can it be pushed and still stay up? …Oops!”
Was it Robert’s Holmes? ;) Or is this a homage to the first strip where everything was broken and they have no clue who did it? http://www.breakingcatnews.Com/comic/everything-is-broken/ We never did get to the bottom of that enigma!
Well owl just says it ain’t Lupin. We owl knows he could not does a theeng like that. For obviously it em mangy mices again. Them pesky creeminals has to be dealts with before they brings upon more destructions and terrible plagues.
I very fondly remember the S&H greenstamps from our local grocery and going to the shop with our books to pick out new items. I still have my textured globe that we got there back in probably 1980. I’m certain that there are quite a few more items floating around here that came from there, as I apparently am the family’s designated packrat. I guess that’s the danger of living in the “big not-pink house”!
My mother has recently insisted on using her old brown flower pattern Correlle from the 70s. (I’m talking full place settings to feed an army!) I personally think they’re the ugliest dishes ever, but there’s no denying that they are far sturdier and store way smaller than any new plates. We also have tons of my grandmother’s and great grandmother’s painted serving bowls, china, baking dishes, etc. Then my mother-in-law passed to us her grandmother’s china pieces that she collected from all over the world. Most of those stay in the china pantry or in a curio, but some still get lovingly used.
Our own wedding china sits completely unused while we spread our holiday tables with old family pieces and antique china that I have saved from Goodwill and such. I am a firm believer in cherishing family history but also in using and enjoying the things from the past. As I’m quickly becoming one of those “things”, I can REALLY appreciate the beauty, durability, and uniqueness of the antiques.
Puckmosis: Your Majesty, there is a cat here to see you.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Is it anyone we know?
Puck: I don’t believe we’ve met him previously, Your Majesty, but I do recognize his unique headgear.
Queen Cat: Oh, yes. I believe he is a friend of the physician, Dr. Zeus. Please show him in.
The Cat in the Headgear: Thank you for deigning to see me, Your Majesty. I come on urgent family business.
Queen Cat: How may my friends and I help you, Mr. Cat?
Mr. Cat: Please, call me Ishaq, meaning He Laughs. (A variation on Isaac). Your Majesty, my family has a priceless heirloom that has no price on it. I regret I was using it on my daily run, when I put is somewhere and forgot about it. I must find it or it will be a deep loss to my family.
Queen Cat: Do I conclude rightly that you had the Zoomies?
Ishaq: That is so, Your Majesty. I was careless, and now I am desperate.
Queen Cat: I do know of someone who can help. Actually, some four.

Violet-Ifa: Let me guess. The Zoomies.
Ishaq: That is so, Friend Procurer.
Agnes-Ata: Did it have three handles and was covered with moss?
Ishaq: Yes. It is a Moss Covered Three Handled Family Gradunza.
Violet-Ifa: Then I have good and bad news. First, it has been found. The bad news is Ora Z found it.
Queen Cat: Don’t worry, Ishaq. If it needs to be repaired, my crew can fix anything.
Ishaq: That may not be necessary, Your Majesty. Legend has it that it was created by the
Re: Litter Box. We have, lately begun to use Litter Robot for our two cats Expensive but worth it. Greatly decreased scooping and odors. I don’t know if a single one would work for five cats, but so long as they use it 10 min apart, should be fine. actually t=it could handle two at a time (personal experience). Perhaps they would work a sponsorship for a mention now and then. Ypu will need a clumping litter with granules that can pass through Litter Robots screen. We use Swheat Scoop clumping with no problem.
Paul and I bought Corelle plates when we moved into this apartment. We both decided it was time to have matching dishes for everyday use. We were also going to buy a new set of matching pots and pans, but never got a round to-it.
Hope it wasn’t a Corelle plate. Those things don’t break very often, but when the do, they =EXPLODE= into a gazillion little pieces!
https://www.youtube.Com/watch?v=XiDzZU7c3DU
PJ (RIP) said he was in a department store one day when Corelle was a new thing & stopped to watch someone doing the “unbreakable” spiel. To demonstrate, the guy dropped a plate, & =SMASH!!!= Someone standing in front of PJ jumped back & nearly knocked him over. Good times…
I made my plates out of fused glass after I broke all but 2 plates. I gave the unbroken plates to the cats to hold their water bowls. Got that entire set of 8 place settings at Williamsburg Pottery Factory in the early 90s for $49. Dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, saucer, cup in each set. Along with one platter, sugar bowl and lid, creamer and tea pot.
The “unbreakable” Corelle™ dishes are actually a form of synthetic jade, or were when they first came out. They do eventually start to re-crystallize, and become less unbreakable.
OT: Thank you all for your concern. This morning the power lines were clear of snow. The high was 37 today with max wind only 25. So I think we are safe from losing power. Provided some yahoo doesn’t hit a pole or pull down wires with the bucket loader. Cape Breton Island has declared a state of emergency through Friday, we’ve had 100cm (49”) total. So much snow. The drifts are huge (some over 6’) and everywhere. It looks like sand dunes only of snow. It’s very pretty the way it curves, but wow, it’s hard to move and the melt is not going to be pretty. The snow is so heavy the pick up trucks with plows can’t move it. Bucket loaders and graders are being used. Last night the county plows were getting stuck. Most everything is still closed today because people can’t get out of their houses to go to work. Our neighbor came with his bucket loader to clean us up, it took two hours. No charge (love small towns). But I will make a card with snow and their labradoodle, Flora on it, and include a gift card to our local gas station. We have an ATV for plowing, but it is useless for this heavy snow. If someone can remind me of the site to post photos without signing in, I think it begins with a “d” I will post photos for those of you longing to see snow.

No. As Burt points out, Lupin’s a vase specialist.
