I’ll tell you what boredom is: Having to watch some lousy TV show or movie that your parents force you to watch in hopes that you’ll be inspired by it.
People are fine with boredom. How else can you explain “The Shape of Water” and numerous other Oscar nominated films?
It is the quiet that they fear; the quiet that allows thoughts to rise up from the depths of your being; thoughts that question that very being itself and what might await you in the days to come; thoughts that question why you did certain things and why you did not do certain other things; thoughts that make you wonder if people still talk about that thing you did that made your face turn red and run into the depths of your subconscious.
This is what they fear, not boredom but realizing who they really are and realizing that it is not pretty for when you gaze into that abyss, it gazes back, and it tells you what you are made of.
But for all that you know, you might be surprised that even in the midst of monsters, you can find your own heroism and the goodness of others. So stare deep into that abyss and learn.
Kevin seems to have no problem with boredom. He stood there listening to a boring soliloquy. He stood there during the boring trial phase, and then asked for a boring reply.

The main explanation for the Kardashians is that the audiences are too bored with everything else to change the channel.

Is it boredom that I feel when I’m trying not to think about the things I really need to do but don’t want to?
