First, store brands that do not mention the store name, like Great Value from Walmart.
Second, too much advertising online, so some brands with limited geographic availability get asked for all over the country.
Third, brands that use different names in different parts of the country, usually because of legal complications from local brand names as they expanded their range; Edy’s ice cream in the East, Dreyer’s in the West for example.
Not using unmarked vans has been the downfall of so many pickle brands. That’s why we’re going back to scooping them out of barrels in all the stores now.
I love pickles. A few months ago I looked up a comparison of pickle nutritional value to cucumber nutrition. Except for sodium, the pickles are equal or superior to cukes. Pickles are now my #1 vegetable.
Why did Heinz quit selling their pickles. By far the healthiest with only 60mg of sodium/oz. Everything I have found since starts at 300mg. Only 4 jars left, anybody find as healthy a substitute?
Regrettably, I’ve seen a few folks fly into a rage because this or that particular brand of product wasn’t sold in the store. Some poor store employee caught the brunt of the customer’s anger for either a management or corporate decision to not carry something, usually to carry a store brand.
I’ve wondered some about what the true underlying reason for the outburst was besides frustration that a particular brand of product wasn’t carried.

We sell what we can get, not what you think you want.

Three problems involved here.
Plus the usual “We just don’t carry that brand.”

This is probably why TJ’s stopped carrying the great tapenade they carried for years.
