We got rain…actually we got drizzle/light rain. The east side of the Valley got nothing. Unlike the Coast that got dumped on. And was anybody prepared? They were told the Deluge was coming and people still were amazed to find themselves in 3 feet of water. Climate change is real and its going to be a bumpy ride from now on.

I don’t like sad endings. That’s one reason why I have never watched Old Yeller. I don’t like stories where cats or dogs die.

Fair enough. Sad endings always strike hard.

Yesterday, we were discussion social media and whether or not posting here is considered that. There were several opinions. I don’t know that I’d consider it social media. We can’t post pictures or videos (any more). It’s not really like texting for the same reason. Maybe it’s more of a snail mail letter? Except you could add photos. So, maybe it’s more like a group conversation.

Oliver has a point. Maybe just don’t read a sad story to him,. He’s just a baby and doesn’t need sadness in his little kitten world.

Merles Door, a true story of a dog found by a man on a canoe and written after the dog’s life is over, had me using a damp washcloth to clear my eyes about every 5 words through the last chapter. The dog had become the beloved “mayor” of the tiny community he lived in, and his death was drug out through almost an entire chapter. I thought I would never get through it. But the rest of the book was wonderful and I’m glad I read it. I no longer watch movies about dogs or cats, there is always a very sad part.

Stooopid blue sky alll day yesterday while everyone else was getting drenched, but we’ve had a light but steady rain overnight. Snow continues to fall in the mountains, next week looks clear, and the 4 hour drive to Carson City is tempting me just to see all the new snow.

Can’t say I blame sweet, loveable Oliver. Sad ending are no fun. (Even though there are admittedly some good stories with sad endings.) One reason we enjoy happy endings is that it’s great to see someone get what they deserve, especially if they went through a lot. I believe TV Tropes refers to this as “Earn your Happy ending.” On another note, saw two wrens, four golden crowned kinglets, two ravens, two varied thrushes, a junco, and a rabbit while out walking today.
